There is no shortage of true crime podcasts, but we all know that they are not created equally. From poor audio quality, annoying commentary, and sensationalizing stories at the expense of victims and their families, there are a lot of true crime podcasts that I just can’t get into.

Here are my 10 favorite true crime podcasts that you don’t want to miss.

10. Serial Killers

Serial Killers is an in-depth look at both notorious and lesser-known serial killers, and it chronicles their life stories. Go back and learn about their upbringing, their introduction to crime, and their criminal profiles. While Greg and Vanessa are always diligent to remind us that they are not psychologists or psychiatrists, they do a lot of research in order to bring us into the mind of these depraved killers.

Pros-

  • Super well-researched
  • Multiple episodes about the same serial killer so that it’s always a deep dive
  • No personal commentary from the hosts about the serial killers (this is a pro or a con, depending on your personal podcast preferences)

Cons-

  • Cheesy dateline-style music
  • NPR voice (you know, the newscaster tone that you never hear unless you’re watching the news, listening to NPR, or at a pretentious dinner party)

9. OC Swingers
